2024 Nonprofit Film Stars

Posted By: Danielle Dunbar

Forbes puts out an article each year about the world’s most valuable brands. In 2024 the top five brands in order are: Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Facebook. Their fact sheet shows the brand’s value in billions of dollars, the brand’s revenue in billions of dollars, and how much they spend on advertising in billions of dollars. As someone who has an MBA, I have learned these metrics and the language of business. As a devoted advocate of nonprofits, I see massive differences in how much funding we allocate to our brands and how differently the world values our services to make the world a better place.

As members of modern society, we know advertising works. We all understand that the more we hear about a product, a service, or even a politician, the more familiar we are and the more we will identify with them. Nonprofits need to spend more on their brand. AAN knows this is easier said than done. Yet the more people who know about our services increases those served, increases donations, increases awareness, and increases brand sharing.

To help Alabama’s nonprofits increase their advertising budget, AAN has partnered with Fidelity Charitable Catalyst Fund to provide grants to 10 nonprofits through a competitive grants process. They are creating a short film about their mission in action. These promising nonprofits and their short films will be in the spotlight at our first-ever Nonprofit Film Festival on October 3rd at the BJCC.

This year’s 10 Nonprofits Film Stars are:

Aum Foundation

Birmingham Corps

Birmingham Education Foundation

College Choice Foundation

GirlSpring

Khairi and Little Angels’ Memorial

South Baldwin Literacy Council

STREAM Innovations

The Flourish Alabama

The Red Barn

This inaugural event will showcase the value of these diverse nonprofit organizations and help others know the importance of their missions. Without a doubt, Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Facebook are part of our lives. AAN sees the greater impact of AUM Foundation, Birmingham Corps, Birmingham Education Foundation (ED), College Choice Foundation, GirlSpring, Khairi and Little Angels’ Memorial, South Baldwin Literacy Council, STREAM Innovations, The Flourish Alabama, The Red Barn, and all our member nonprofits.

Join us in giving a hearty congratulations to these organizations and a warm recognition to all of your colleagues across the state for the vital work they do in our communities. You are truly making life better for Alabamians. We hope to see you on October 3rd for an evening of networking and celebrating. More event information can be found here.
